Road

By Car

There will be a taxi and rideshare drop off and pick up area close to the entrance of the event. Please advise anyone picking up to follow the event signage on approach to the venue and a traffic steward will direct you to the drop off/pick up point.

For most events, the accessible carpark is located in the North Carpark. The North Car Park spaces are on uneven hard standing. Although there is a flat paved route to the North Entrance

Accessible Parking

Car parking is £10.00 per car payable by card on entry to the car park. Attendees should have their Blue Badge on display and you will be directed to the accessible parking area.

Road

By Tram

Edinburgh Trams run from every 7 minutes between 06.18 and 22.48 and offer a consistent journey time of just 30 minutes into the city. Trams interchange with rail services at Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley). Tram stops can be accessed via gently sloping ramps or lifts with each tram having two dedicated wheelchair/buggy spaces per tram and dedicated priority seats.

The closest tram stop to the Royal Highland Centre is Ingliston Park and Ride. Ingliston Park and Ride is a 25 minute journey from our North & East Entrance. Approximate distance is 1800m or 2400 steps. All trams are fully low floor and have dedicated spaces for wheelchairs.

By Bus

There is a bus stop outside the Moxy Hotel on Eastfield Road that is a 15-minute journey from our North Entrance. For Accessible Travel information and timetables for each bus company, please see below:

98 Bus Service
For some of our larger events Lothian Buses will run a service 98 to and from Edinburgh City Centre and the venue. Click here for accessible information and service availability. Please reach out to the event organiser to confirm if this service will be operating for your event.

Road

By Train

The closest train stations are Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Park. Both are linked to a tram stop. From the train station it is a 5 – 10 minute taxi or rideshare journey to the venue. For more information and timetables on National Rail train services Click Here.

Toilets and Changing Places Facilities

There are accessible toilets located in all the venue’s permanent toilet blocks and halls. There are Changing Places Facilities located in both The Pavilion and Highland Hall. Please see below map and resources for venue specific locations.

Highland Hall & Central Hall

The Highland Hall is accessible by wide doors with a width of 1.79m.  In the foyer there is an accessible toilet and changing place facility. The Highland Hall has a second floor which can be accessed by

lift but there are no accessible toilets on level two. The second floor is mostly used for conference style events, registration for exhibitors or back of house.

There is ramp access from the Highland Hall into the Central Hall. The corridor between buildings has 3 accessible toilets. There is no ramp access to the Central Hall from East side of the site.

Lowland Hall

This building is accessible by a lowered pavement and doors with a width of 1.66m. The doors do have a small lip on the floor but there are fire exits at the side of the building which would accommodate a wheelchair, scooter or prams. This building is only one level. There are two accessible toilets located in the Lowland Hall, one on the east and one on the west side of the hall. The Strathmore Restaurant is accessible via ramps from 13th Avenue on the west side of the hall.
